Toyota Prius dominates the hybrid market but the Honda Civic is another popular choice.
Unlike the Prius, the Civic is a “stealth” hybrid: it looks like a regular Civic but is a hybrid.
…the Civic Hybrid, which followed in 2003, has become the highest-volume hybrid in the company stable. If a Honda hybrid rolls into your shop, odds are it’s going to be a 2003-05 Civic Hybrid.
The November 2008 edition of Motor Magazine includes an article from Dan Marinucci entitled, “Civic Hybrid Maintenance Service Opportunities” in which he lists six service tips:
1. How to prevent the engine in a 2003-05 Civic Hybrid from automatically restarting.
2. Throttle housing cleanup.
3. Which oil to use for the Honda Civic and how to avoid DTC P1021 (Valve Pause System Stuck On) after an oil change.
4. The inconvenience of the “aerodynamic splash panel” located under the engine.
5. Recommended CVT fluid.
6. How to get the state-of-charge indicator working after the 12-volt battery goes dead or gets replaced.
